Clear aligners are already much more convenient than conventional metal braces. They’re removable, more comfortable, have a shorter average treatment time, and some, like Byte, don’t even require in-person visits to the orthodontist. But Byte decided to give convenience a whole new meaning with their At-Night aligners option.

Just as the name suggests, these nighttime clear aligners can be worn while you sleep, so you can go to work or out to lunch without having to worry about taking your aligners out, cleaning them, and putting them back in every time you want to have a bite or drink some coffee. If this concept sounds like something you might be interested in, you’re in the right place. In this article, we’ll talk all about the Byte At-Night option, so you can decide if they are the best choice for your teeth straightening.

What Is Byte At-Night?

Before we jump into all the details about Byte At-Nigh (including customers’ Byte reviews, pros and cons, etcetera), let’s do a quick refresher on the Byte brand in general.

Byte Overview

Byte is a revolutionary and relatively new at-home clear aligners brand. That means that treatment is completed 100% remotely. You order your aligners online, they are shipped to you, and you go through treatment at home with your orthodontist’s virtual check-ins.

Byte manages to stand out from the crowd in a market nearly saturated with at-home clear aligner brands because of the remarkably short treatment time they offer. On average, treatment with Byte only takes three months. Much of this is thanks to their unique HyperByte technology. HyperByte uses High-Frequency Vibration to speed up treatment time and help relieve discomfort during your teeth straightening journey.

Byte At-Night Overview

You may be familiar with Byte All-Day, the standard Byte orthodontic treatment, wherein you wear your aligners for 22 hours per day. Byte At-Night is Byte’s new treatment system that requires a minimum of 10 consecutive hours of wear per day. The idea is that you can wear them at night when you sleep, with only a couple of awake hours for wearing them as well. (Unless you get 10 hours of sleep every night, in which case, kudos to you!)

You also need to use HyperByte, of course, which is Byte’s particular device that uses pulse and vibration therapy to speed up treatment and relieve discomfort or soreness. Whereas with the standard Byte treatment, you only need to use the HyperByte for five minutes per day, with the At-Night treatment you need to use it for 10 minutes per day.

Byte At-Night Orthodontic Treatment: How Does It Work?

It may seem too good to be true that you’d only have to wear your clear aligners while you sleep, but this is a real treatment option that can work in many cases. But how exactly does it work? And how does it compare to the All-Day treatment option? Let’s find out!

Impression Kit

The process for ordering your impression kit and making the impressions of your teeth at home is the same for both All-Day and At-Night aligners. You simply order your impression kit from the Byte website. Your impression kit will include the following items:

Once you receive your impression kit in the mail, you need to take your impressions. It’s critical that you carefully follow the steps in the instructions to make your impressions. Thankfully, Byte has a helpful video tutorial that you can watch as well:

Once you’ve made your impressions, send them back in using the prepaid shipping label.

Byte orthodontists will review your impressions and create a treatment plan; then, they will walk you through your treatment step-by-step and virtually, using an interactive 3D model. After your orthodontist makes your treatment plan, your aligners will be made in the Byte lab. You’ll receive your aligners in the mail with your step-by-step instructions and treatment plan, and you can begin treatment right away.

Byte also guarantees that if an orthodontist decides you aren’t eligible for treatment with Byte, you’ll get a full refund for your impression kit.

Night Aligners

You may be wondering if the Night aligners are the same aligners as the All-Day aligners. The answer is, no, they aren’t exactly the same. Byte At-Night aligners are made with a thicker medical-grade plastic than the daytime aligner. This helps keep treatment time down to only four to six months, even with only 10 hours of wear per day. The At-Night aligners are also grind-resistant, made especially for nighttime wear when some people grind their teeth while sleeping.

Other differences include overall treatment time, daily wearing time, and daily HyperByte time. Let’s take a closer look at these ways in which daytime and nighttime aligners differ.

Wearing Time

All-Day aligners must be worn for at least 22 hours per day, with five minutes of daily HyperByte use. The average treatment time is just three months.

The At-Night aligners must be worn for at least 10 hours per day, with 10 minutes daily of HyperByte. The average treatment time is from four to six months.

HyperBye is Byte’s trademarked technology that uses High-Frequency Vibrations to transmit micropulses to the roots of your teeth and the surrounding bone. This vibration helps seat your aligners better, reduces discomfort, and makes for faster and more accurate teeth movement. Reducing pain is especially important when it comes to at-home braces because 72% to 100% of orthodontic patients experience soreness, pressure, and tension, and this can lead to lower rates of compliance, and thus a greater failure in treatment.

Both the All-Day and At-Night treatment options use HyperByte, but with the standard treatment option you use it for five minutes per day, and with the At-Night treatment, you use it for 10 minutes per day, ideally before you go to sleep with your aligners in.

Treatment Plan

Your At-Night treatment plan is devised by a licensed orthodontist, just like your All-Day plan would be. The only difference is that your treatment will take a couple of months longer, and you need to wear your aligners for at least 10 hours per day, instead of at least 22 hours per day.

Dental Visits

There are no dental visits with the remote treatment offered by Byte, whether you go with the At-Night or All-Day option. That doesn’t mean that your treatment isn’t professionally supervised. In fact, a licensed dentist or orthodontist will follow along and remotely monitor your progress to make sure that everything is going according to plan.

Byte At-Night Aligner Treatment Cost

When it comes to aligners’ cost, Byte At-Night costs a bit more than Byte All-Day, but they are still a cheap teeth aligners option compared to standard braces or other Byte alternatives like Candid, for example.

Byte At-Night Cost

Byte At-Night costs $2,245 upfront, or you can choose to pay with bytepay, which is a payment plan of $98 per month for 29 months with a $415 deposit. Make sure to look out for a Byte coupon that can make these aligners even more affordable.

Byte All-Day Cost

Byte All-Day costs $1,895, which is the same price as Smile Direct Club. If you pay upfront and $83 per month for 29 months with a $349 deposit if you opt for the bytepay payment plan. Byte may cost the same as Smile Direct Club. But there are some other significant differences when it comes to Byte vs Smile Direct Club that you should also consider before making your decision.

Byte At-Night Pros and Cons

Byte At-Night treatment is an excellent solution for people who don’t want to have to deal with taking their teeth aligners out during the day to eat, or if they have to talk frequently or have a public persona. But there are some cons to consider too before you decide on the At-Night treatment vs the All-Day treatment. Have a look at the following table to summarize the pros and cons of nighttime Byte aligners.

Both Byte All-Day and Byte At-Night are excellent options when it comes to correcting mild to moderate cases of malocclusion. You’ll need to decide which option is best for you, based on your needs and lifestyle. Once you send in your impressions, your Byte dentist will let you know if you are a candidate for nighttime aligner treatment, or if you should go with the standard All-Day option.
